Guy de Maupassant's Le Horla...

Said to have inspired the writing of H.P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu, Guy de Maupassant's Le Horla has now inspired filmmaker Agostino Toscana, who turned the story into a hauntingly shot 35 minute movie...

In regards to Le Horla, Lovecraft wrote the following in his Supernatural Horror in Literature, "Relating the advent in France of an invisible being who lives on water and milk, sways the minds of others, and seems to be the vanguard of a horde of extra-terrestrial organisms arrived on earth to subjugate and overwhelm mankind, this tense narrative is perhaps without peer in its particular department."
