War With the Newts...

Based on the novel Valka S Mloky by Karel Capek, War With the Newts revolves around the discovery of a sea-dwelling race in the Pacific who are enslaved and exploited, until they rebel, leading to a global war for supremacy. Currently in pre-production, the film was to be directed by celebrated Polish director/screenwriter Agnieszka Holland, who has since moved on in favor of director/producer Thomas Krejci...

With a budget of around 7.5 million euros (about 10 million U.S.), Newts will be shot in Germany, Poland, Thailand and possibly the Czech Republic, with actors still to be named...

The producers are looking for a 2013 release on a yet-to-be-decided Czech TV station, with no mention of a DVD or international release...
