Synergetic Distribution released Balaji K. Kumar's 9 Lives of Mara, which he co-wrote with Eric Massey, on DVD this week, and fangoria.com has the details...

The DVD, which retails for $24.98, features an anamorphic 1.85:1 transfer with Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo sound, an audio commentary by Kumar and Massey, "Through the Corridors of Time" documentary by Massey about The Malleus Maleficarium, "The 9 Lives of Lovecraft" featurette by H.P. Chris Landreth's Lovecraft...

Chris Landreth's animated Lovecraft biopic gets some press over at Variety.com (see: Canadian horror hits mini-boom). The project, based on Hans Rodionoff's graphic novel, will be produced by Steven Hoban (Ginger Snaps). No further details are mentioned, but it's nice to see that the project hasn't been forgotton...

News from the land of Yig...

Tim Uren has checked in with the first in a series of weekly updates regarding the upcoming film The Curse of Yig! Read on for more…

Paul and I have a completed screenplay we are both very happy with. Capturing the language of the original story was a very high priority for us and I think the film will definitely feel like classic Lovecraft even if the Oklahoma setting is a distinct departure from the small New England towns more commonly associated with him.

The screenplay has proven a great format for capturing the "stories within stories" element of the original text. In a very brief span of time, the script manages to generate a multi-layered narration, resonating back and forth between through-lines. We're obviously very excited to get started on filming.

In all other aspects of preproduction, we have been unbelievably lucky. The sets we have found to film on are phenomenal. We begin shooting cabin scenes on Friday the 12th, with asylum scenes the week after that.

So for the moment, the real update is we're ready to go and feeling good. More stories next week, once the cameras start to roll.

Die Farbe completion draws near...

Die Farbe, writer/director Huan Vu's German adaptation of The Colour out of Space, is a couple of weeks from completion according to the director. "Completion is overdue, I know, but we're still not there, although it can only be a question of a couple of weeks." Huan tells Unfilmable.com, "90% of the music, 66% of the sound and 80% of the visual effects are done so far."
